In this day and age of online sports betting, if a sportsbook isn’t offering all of the features that its competitors are, they’re going to lose business and fall by the wayside. In other words, if you come upon a sportsbook that still isn’t offering live betting at this point, they’re probably not worth your time.
Sites without in-play betting are rare, so the question you should be asking isn’t whether or not the book has live betting, but how many markets they offer for each live sporting event, and how the odds are for those markets compared to what their competitors offer.
In terms of what sports you can bet live bet on, it will depend on the sportsbook, but they generally adhere to the same grouping of sports with which they offer the in-play feature. These sports are
- NFL
- NBA
- NCAA Football & Basketball
- MMA
- NHL
- MLB
- Tennis (Men’s & Women’s)
- Soccer
You will see new live betting markets for each quarter, half, period, inning, round or set in a sporting event from one of these sports. Common props include
- Next team to score
- Who will win the round/set/quarter/period
- Total points over/under
- Live spreads
- Winning margin
- How many of a certain stat a player will finish with
- Whether or not a player will score or get a hit
- Total score odd or even
- Number of fouls or yellow cards
